At Alpha Chi Omega's 1992 National Convention, delegates voted to adopt the Support of Victims of Domestic Violence as a national altruistic project.
The Alpha Chi Omega Foundation supports educational programs for victims of domestic violence as well as hands-on support at the local community level where personal involvement can make a difference. Grants go to various agencies across the nation providing services to victims as well as to provide development and implementation of educational programs for members. The Kappa Xi chapter supports Favor House, Pensacola's domestic violence shelter. Each year we host a luminary ceremony to honor victims of domestic violence as well as a silent auction to raise funds to support our philanthropic efforts.
In addition to raising awareness and supporting victims of domestic violence, Alpha Chi Omegas participates in events all over campus and the community. We are proud to sponsor many events on campus with Counseling and Wellness. Take Back the Night, which seeks to raise awareness for and fight sexual assault, is just an example. We also support other Greeks in their philanthropic events including Sigma Chi's Derby Days, Tau Kappa Epsilon's St. Jude's Week, and Phi Beta Sigma's Thanksgiving Drive! Kappa Xi's even find time to participate in Habitat for Humanity and Safe Spring Break!
