The Membership Selection Process...
When a young woman accepts a bid for membership in Alpha Chi Omega, she is welcomed and accepted as she is, and she will never be expected to fit a specific mold. Potential new members are selected for membership in Alpha Chi after meeting our five national standards of membership. The sisters of Alpha Chi Omega, Kappa Xi Chapter included, all exemplify to the best of our ability the personal qualities of character, leadership, academic interest, personal development and financial responsibility.
After receiving a bid from Alpha Chi Omega, new members participate in an education program meant to help them make a smooth transition to college life and a lifetime membership in Alpha Chi Omega. This includes education on the history of Alpha Chi Omega nationally and at the University of West Florida, as well as sisterhood events.
New members receive a "Bid Day Buddy" on Bid Day who helps welcome them to sisterhood! This sister is one of four buddies a new member will receive. This allows sisters an opportunity to get to know the new members and the new members an opportunity to get to know the sisters! A New Member will then receive an Alpha, Chi, and Omega Sis before receiving their Big prior to Initiation.
New Members and Lifetime Members taking a little sister are matched through a mutual selection process. We then have a Big/Little Week ending with Reveal!
The Vice President New Member Education and her committee oversee all new member education. These women are dedicated to showing our new members what Alpha Chi is all about.
